Welcome to the ORIGINAL McMaster University Contemporary Medical Acupuncture Program, sponsored by the McMaster University Department of Anesthesia, and co-founded in 1998 by Dr. Angelica Fargas-Babjak and Dr. Alejandro Elorriaga Claraco.

The Contemporary Medical Acupuncture Program founders created this medical acupuncture training course on neurofunctional acupuncture and electroacupuncture as the first comprehensive medical acupuncture training course for health care professionals offered by a Medical University in Ontario, Canada.

The Contemporary Medical Acupuncture Program has been designed following the tenets of best evidence practice (evidence-based medicine), and the topics of the curriculum include the latest contemporary scientific medical knowledge about the treatment of pain and dysfunction using neurofunctional acupuncture and electroacupuncture.

McMaster University Contemporary Medical ElectroacupunctureThe Contemporary Medical Acupuncture Program is skill-based, clinically oriented, with about 100 hours devoted to practical workshops on neurofunctional acupuncture and electroacupuncture, surface anatomy palpation, needle insertion skills, anatomy laboratory, condition-specific blueprint treatment design, special techniques workshops, and treatment of live cases.
